Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Sorry I missed sending my column last week. So, I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day. I was blessed to celebrate with my Mama and almost all my family.
While my Mama has been sick for the last eight months, she’s overcome most of her worst periods. However, Sunday evening she went home to be with God. As I write this, I can’t express my loss and sorrow, but she is no longer in pain and is rejoicing in heaven. Next week I’ll share more; I just can’t this week.
Congratulations to all the seniors who graduated Tuesday night. Since earlier in the school year I was subbing in the high school I got to know them. So, best wishes for your future.
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department will have bingo on Saturday, June 3, at 6:30. Make plans to join in the fun we all have while supporting the fire department.
Providence Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, June 4. Guest preacher will be former pastor Mark Seals. Lunch will follow the service.
The Old Rock Jail will be open this Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. We are still taking applications for the veteran’s memorial until the end of August. There will be more information and an application form on their Facebook page. For more information call or email me at the contact information at the end of my column.
My Bible verse for this week is about grief. Matthew 5:4 reads, “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
Mourning is so heavy on your heart; words can’t describe how you feel. The loss is painful, but there will be a joy, also.
There are few, if any, adults that have not lost loved ones, but it never gets easier with repetition. Each is a different experience; you have different experiences and emotions regardless of circumstances. Yes, my heart is hurting, but I have the comfort that God is with me. I know my mama is in heaven rejoicing, free from pain. But it still hurts!
There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will, as well. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
