The Buzz
Buzzy the Buzzard
At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man, I think we need to rethink gun control. While none of the many shooting tragedies can be considered acceptable, one that is so close and in such a small town prompts me to speak out.
Now there are two strikes against gun control. First, people don’t want the government to say whether or not they can own guns. Second, guns aren’t the real problem; people who think violence is a solution are the real problem.
So any government efforts to limit gun ownership will be fought forever, and they won’t solve the people problem.
But automatic weapons exist only to kill people. Lots of people. Really fast. I think what we have here is a product liability issue. Manufacturers of tires, seat belts, airbags, plastic bags, and just about anything that can hurt or kill people are held liable. So should gun manufacturers.
Those suckers would be off the market so fast. So would the ammunition. And there would be buy-back programs. Without the government involved any further.
This policy would be a start to check all these shootings. But it will never make whole the families destroyed, never bring back the dead or heal the injured.
We need to pray for those affected. I’ll be your eye in the sky.
Love,
Buzzy
