I missed being at Rockford Church of God last Sunday; however, I did not miss the blessing of God. Butch and I received it all at Good Grove Baptist Church in Equality where Minister LaJerrell Hill, who is my nephew, preached an awesome sermon for the pastoral installation for Pastor-elect Minister Bobby Montgomery.
He preached from Exodus chapters one and two, as well as other books, but he focused more on Exodus and did such a great job that he made some cry out to the Lord like never before. His title was “God has a Plan for You.” God had a plan for Minister Hill a long time ago and called him to operate in it open minded a year ago. But Minister Hill preached on Sunday like he has been preaching 40 years, especially from the book of Exodus.
That’s not a book that many preachers, young or old, will or can preach from and explain the whole truth. Minister Hill did it well and with God’s anointed flowing all over him. It reminded me of when he was a young boy in church, and I got happy and jumped into a praise dance. He told my grandson and others that Aunt Ruby was break dancing.
They all got a kick out of that, because break dancing was the popular dance at that time for young kids. They didn’t understand my godly dance then, but now I know that my nephew knows and understands it now.
The anointed had him wanting to break dance for the Lord on Sunday (haha). I have seen him many times while singing and the anointed fell on him, and he got happy and ran in the back of the church to keep from shouting and dancing. But God got a hold of him now, and he doesn’t mind you dancing for Him.
Minister Hill made his aunt and uncle very proud of him, and also his niece, Khloe. She said she understood the message very well, how Hill explained it. His brother, Landon, was more than proud of his brother. I’ve never seen Landon praise God like he did on Sunday, and it was not because Minister Hill is his brother. God was all in that church, and Good Grove’s choir was just super with Sister Gwen playing the keyboard and singing her heart out in such a way it would make anyone praise God.
It was a great day at Good Grove Baptist Church. I pray the fire will continue to burn there with their new pastor, Bobby Montgomery.
A good laugh is healthy, and it doesn’t hurt to laugh sometimes, but not all the time – it gets stale. Butch is a big time joker, but sometimes I think he jokes too much, and some of his jokes are not funny. However, he said something one day that made me laugh, and it was not a joke. He was real serious, and I thought it was funny. He asked what’s the difference between a pastor and a reverend. If someone asks you who is your pastor, you would say Pastor Hill or Pastor John Doe, but who is going to ask you who is your reverend? He said it sounded stupid. I thought that was so funny. I couldn’t answer for laughing.
Then he spoke on preachers being called doctors. Things he said made me laugh more. Butch can make me laugh without telling me jokes, though his jokes will not. We have lots of fun laughing at simple things that hurt no one. I will ask him where something is that I have misplaced, and he will ask me, “Where did you put it?” I just look at him and we both will break out with a big laugh, then he says, “Wasn’t that a dumb question?”
Happy birthday to Pastor Ivor Smith, Ricky Hanna, Clifford Maxwell, and all April babies.
Prayer list: Lady Mandy and Pastor Chris Hill and family. When one hurts, all hurt.
Thinking of you, Mrs. C.K. May, Lady Lillian Leonard and Mrs. Carrie Lawrence.
