Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Coosa County Historical Society will meet on Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at Twenty-Two & Crew. We will be finalizing the plans to open the Old Rock Jail on Sunday afternoons from May to October.
Right now we only have volunteers for the first and third Sundays of each month. If you can help, please let me know.
You don’t have to be a member to attend our meetings, but I encourage you to join. Dues are $15 annually. Also, we will be discussing celebrating our fiftieth anniversary this fall. Refreshments and door prizes are furnished by members.
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department will be having Bingo on Saturday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m. Come out for a night of fun and fellowship. We always have a good time, and it’s for a good cause. It’s important that we support our fire department. They are volunteers that donate their time to help our community.
Tax season is over! As I am writing this on Monday night, tomorrow is the deadline. So, by the time this is printed, it’s done for the year unless you filed an extension. I have volunteered at VCCA the last few years, and while I enjoy it, I’m always glad to see that final day.
Providence Baptist Church has called Dr. James Troglen, former pastor at First Baptist Wetumpka, as our interim pastor. He will be preaching for us each Sunday morning while we search for a pastor. Everyone is welcome to come; services begin at 11 with Sunday School at 10.
My scripture reading this week is John 11:25-26, which reads, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’”
Jesus is not promising us an eternal earthly body. However, if you are a believer in Christ, you have eternal life in your inner being. Until Jesus comes back, we all face death. The question is where will you spend eternity. That is up to you; no one can make the decision for you. They may influence you, but ultimately, it’s your decision alone.
There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will, as well. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
