Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Happy birthday to all the April babies! April showers bring May flowers, so we should have plenty of blooms in May. Hope everyone didn’t get too “pranked” last Saturday.
Today is Good Friday! For Christians, it commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and His death at Calvary. However, just as Easter and Christmas are recognized in non-Christian ways, so is Good Friday. It is an unofficial holiday. Many plant gardens on Good Friday because usually the weather is warming up, and the danger of frost is gone.
Sunday is Easter! While Christmas is important to celebrate Jesus’ birth, without Him dying on the cross and rising from the grave, Easter wouldn’t exist. Many churches have sunrise services. Providence Baptist plans to have theirs on the hill in the cemetery at 6:30 a.m. If you haven’t got a church to attend, come join us for sunrise, then we’ll have Sunday School at 10 and preaching at 11. Dr James Troglen will be bringing the message at 11.
The Coosa County High School Alumni Reunion will be April 15 at the Rockford Event Center. Fellowship time begins at 5 p.m. with the meal at 6 p.m. The Class of 1973 will be recognized. So, bring a covered dish, comfortable and casual dress and have a good time. Plates, cups, napkins, cutlery, along with drinks and ice are provided.
My scripture reading this week is Matthew 28:5-6, which reads, “The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.’”
How wonderful to hear those words and know that He rose from the grave just as he said. All we have to do is believe in our hearts that it is so.
Our prayers go out to the Russell and Gann families in the loss of their loved ones in such a tragic way. There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will, as well. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
