Free tax preparation and filing: Volunteer Connections of Central Alabama is once again offering free tax services to Coosa County residents. The service will be available this year at the Rockford Methodist Church building, located north of the four-way stop at 9922 U.S. Highway 231, Rockford. Coosa County residents can visit the tax preparation location every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through April 12. Notice: April 12 will only be for signing returns, not accepting drop-offs. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will have priority. Call VCCA at 256-234-0347 to make an appointment. Anyone who has any questions or needs additional information is asked to call the Coosa County Extension Office at 256-975-0089 or 256-377-4713. April 8
Showstoppin’ Championship Wrestling returns to Rockford for its monthly show on Saturday, April 8, at the Rockford Event Center for their next event, “Showstoppin’ Rumble,” which will be the promotion’s hugest show yet! This event will feature the inaugural Showstoppin’ Rumble! Stars from across the state, legends, and surprises are in store for this match! The winner of the rumble will receive a match for the championship title of their choosing. Doors open at 5 p.m., and bell time is at 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 each, and ringside tickets are $15 each. There is a special V.I.P. package for this show for $30 each. Kids 8 and under get in free.

Bibb Graves Community Center in Millerville will hold its Spring Fling and Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Egg hunt begins at 11. Free. Activities include gift basket raffle, carnival games, food trucks, live music, fun crafts, bunny ride, Easter Bunny meet and greet and photo opportunity, face painting, photo booth, craft vendors, bounce house, cake walk, and much more! The Coosa County Conservation District supervisors will meet on Monday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at the District Office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157, Rockford.
April 29
The Weogufka Center will host its annual Mule Day on Saturday, April 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, located at 145 Memorial Loop off of County Road 29 in Weogufka. Join us for a day of fun! The event will include mules, music, food, antique tractors, cake auction, wagon rides, arts and crafts, vendors, and more! Come learn about the Children’s Farm Center activities. Admission is $5 per vehicle. Sausage biscuits will be for sale starting at 7 a.m. for those who wish to come early. For more information contact Sue Baxley at 256-249-3666. The Town of Rockford is hosting Spring Fling at the Park on Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come join us for vendors and food trucks, music, bounce house/slide with weather permitting, games, and free train rides!
June 14-17
Summer Camp will be held June 12-14 at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana, and 4-H members ages 9-14 are invited to participate. Coosa County 4-H has 25 camp spots. They are available on a first come, first serve basis. Register in 4HOnline (v2.4honline.com). Payment can be made in full in 4HOnline or pay in installments at the Extension Office (currently located at the E-911 building, 66 Communication Drive, Rockford). The camp fee is $150. A $25 non-refundable deposit is due by February 24, and the balance will be due no later than April 22. Need to know more? Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly
The Friends of Flagg Mountain host a potluck dinner (bring something to share) with entertainment by local musicians on the First Friday of every month. The Coosa County Republican Party meets the fourth Monday of every month at the Coosa County E-911 building in Rockford with refreshments at 6 p.m. and the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. For more information email coosacountyrepublicans@gmail.com.
Quarterly
The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
