In My Humble Opinion
Jodi McDade
Believe it or not, the 2024 election season is here and already heating up! Our Alabama primary date has been set for March 5, 2024 – one year from this Sunday.
Announcements are already being made by people running for president – three for the Republican nomination and one for the Democratic nomination. There are still many names being talked about, including President Biden himself. Dr. Jill has said he’s running, but HE hasn’t formally said that.
There are many people (including Democrats) who are not supportive of a second Biden term because of his age and mental issues and/or realize that he possibly could not beat a strong Republican running on some of the main issues.
People are fed up with the lack of control at the border and the enormous number of illegal aliens being allowed into our country. People are finding out now about some “misinformation” that is being cleared up that will have some people questioning President Biden’s trustworthiness and transparency. COVID-19 DID come from a China lab – with funding from our government. There has never been 9,000 permits not being used by our oil companies to drill our own oil. (The most is more like 6,700, but even those do not necessarily have readily available oil in the ground.) Investigations into many more things will now be done by the Republican leadership in the House.
Other issues that are up front in next year’s election will be education, taxes, student loans being paid by the taxpayers, the economy and inflation, and the rush to do away with fossil fuels when nothing else is ready to replace them.
Our reputation in the world is slipping, and China/Russia/Iran are beginning to openly work together. It’s being discovered that our FBI/DOJ/CIA have been working AGAINST our own interests to benefit our enemies. None of our branches of the military are meeting their recruitment needs, and the standards to enlist are being lowered.
And I haven’t even mentioned the response by President Biden on the train derailment in Ohio. This is a disaster that is worse than any tornado, hurricane, or snowstorm. Chemicals have been released into the air, soil and water that will continue to spread in wider ranges than just that one area. These chemicals could possibly end up in OUR rivers, lakes and streams.
I’ll grant that Norfolk Southern has also not responded properly, but our presidents historically visit areas like these. This president can get to Ukraine on a secret visit, but he can’t seem to find East Palestine, Ohio, OR our border. I really would like to know who is truly making federal decisions.
At the state level here in Alabama there will not be many candidates on the 2024 ballot except for a few county and judicial races. But we still need to be watching our state legislature because they have some very interesting and important issues they are considering in this next session that starts on Tuesday, March 7.
The legislators are already meeting in committees, and 58 bills have been pre-filed for consideration. There will be several relating to education and addressing the low results in reading at grade level and low scores in math. They will also be considering ways to block the indoctrination of our children and the push for equity vs. equality.
Currently, the AEA (the education union) has 45 PAID lobbyists walking the halls of the State House to influence the legislators to support THEIR agenda. WE THE PEOPLE only have a few concerned citizens pleading for the withdrawal of Common Core curriculum, blocking alternate lifestyles and genders from being taught in the classroom, and for a return to the ability for teachers to teach to higher standards rather than lower standards.
We do NOT need to be teaching children that they are either a victim or an oppressor. We do NOT need to be convincing children that they lack the ability to learn based only on the color of their skin and/or their parents’ economic position. Every child should be able to learn in the manner that fits them the best – not just taught to a test.
Some members of the Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee are forming a volunteer group to lobby the legislators for OUR agenda vs. the AEA. The group is being called ROAM (Republicans On a Mission). They will be promoting bills for Parental School Choice for the education of their child. School choice is a major issue that is being discussed in almost every state, and Alabama has finally gotten in the discussion.
There are many ways people can volunteer – go to Montgomery for committee meetings, make phone calls/emails and by helping inform other people to get involved. Until we can dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, we need to get better control of our state education system. Let me know if you are interested in helping!
So many other things are going on, but I’ll leave it here for this week. Please pray for our country, state and county. We do have some good leaders, but they need some “atta boys” and positive input.
