Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Don’t forget that tomorrow night, February 25, at 6:30, the Richville Volunteer Fire Department will host Bingo at the fire station. Come out and support them and have fun at the same time.
In addition to playing bingo, you get to fellowship with others in the community. They also sell concessions during intermissions. Hope to see you there!
Also, that same night, Union Baptist Church will host a Friendship Banquet at 6 p.m. Chris Crumbley will be the guest speaker. They will also have special music. Everyone is invited.
Providence Baptist Church is still seeking a pastor. Anyone interested or knows someone, contact a member of our church. We are looking for a bi-vocational pastor, so continue to be in prayer for our church as we search for an interim pastor, as well as a new pastor.
March is Women’s History Month. The theme this year is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” This can be done not only by storytelling in all forms of media, but using art, also. So beginning with next week, I will highlight a woman who has used her abilities to tell her story, as well as others, that made a difference They may or may not be someone you have heard of or even agree with my choice. But these women will be my choice and my opinion only.
Therefore, my scripture reading I’m sharing this week is from Proverbs 31 which is often used in reference to what a Christian woman should be. Proverbs 31:30-31 which reads, “Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised. Give her the reward of her labor, and let her works praise her at the city gates.”
So often we judge people by their looks; at first glance we make assumptions. While these verses are describing a woman, we can apply to man or woman. These verses state that there is more to a person than looks or charm.
Charm is defined as the power of giving delight or the ability to attract someone or persuade someone to do something. That’s not to say that those things are necessarily bad, just that there should be more to a person.
This also doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try to take care of ourselves, but make us as presentable as possible. God wants us to engage in worthwhile activities that bring blessings to others and honor and glory to Him.
There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will, as well. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
