Patsy Robinson Hilyer

Patsy Robinson Hilyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Rockford, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones February 8, 2023, after an extended illness. Born October 6, 1943, to Dollie (Palmer) and J.D. Robinson, Pat grew up an only child who thought of her cousins as sisters and brothers. She learned to love her family and friends from the best, her very special mother. Even during her difficult final days, she looked forward to visits with her babies and often spent time sharing photos and stories of them with others. She enjoyed nothing more than loving her Lord, family, and friends well.

Pat was an active member of New Life Baptist Church in Equality, where she enjoyed worshipping the Lord with her friends since the 1970s. Mrs. Pat often shared candy with the little ones, whether at church or in her home. She enjoyed watching her flowers grow and bloom and the many hummingbirds that came back to her yard year after year. She was much cherished and will be greatly missed until we join her in heaven.

Our loved one was predeceased by her parents, John Daniel and Dollie (Palmer) Robinson; her firstborn, a baby boy named Larry Marcus Hilyer whom she was anxious to see in heaven; and her son-in-law, Keith Bullard.

Pat is survived by the love of her life and husband of “4 days shy of 63 years,” Charles Larry Hilyer; her only daughter, Lori Hilyer Bullard; grandchildren, Whitney Long and husband, Richard; Jarrod Bullard and wife, Kelly; and Kendall Belyeu and husband, Jarvis. The five little people she adored most are great-grandchildren Briggs and Wesley Kate Bullard, Ellis and Kohen Belyeu, and Landry Long. Pat is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ollie Jo Owsley and Judy Calloway; nieces; and nephews.

Pat would want us to thank the ladies whom she considered her friends at Coosa Valley Hematology and Oncology who gave her such kind and tender care; Dr. Mooney, who helped her have more time with her family; and the ladies of Enhabit Hospice who made their visits and offered her the attention and comfort that she needed at a time when she needed help most.

The family received friends Saturday, February 11, 2023, at New Life Baptist Church, located at 759 Coosa County Road 14, Equality, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The funeral took place at 1 p.m. and was led by Bro. Tim Hughes. Burial took place at Swamp Creek Primitive Baptist Church located on Coosa County Road 37 in the Richville community.

Pallbearers were Jarrod Bullard, Jarvis Belyeu, Richard Long, Terry Flowers, Micah Hughes, and Josiah Hughes.
