Jasmine Kluge celebrated her fifth birthday with her church family last weekend.
Butch and I thoroughly enjoyed the Rockford Senior (Citizen) Prom last weekend. Thank you, Rockford!
Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a very good game! Both teams deserve the utmost congratulations.
Rockford Church of God’s Pastor Chris Hill is hearing from God with both ears open wide, and God is filling them with many blessings, and he is sharing them with his sheep. Last Sunday he spoke on how love first began. It began with God, for God is love!
However, there are different types of love displayed in some people, the unspoken, the unshakable, the unreal, etc. But God is the real true love. He showed it by sending His son Jesus to the cross to die for our sins, and He is still showing it today, every day, every hour, every minute, and every second. He gives us new mercy every day. Love is an action, and it speaks louder than words.
Rockford Mayor Scott White is a great young man, and he wants us older folks to feel young by showing the love to the community. Oh, what a night to remember. Mayor White and the Town of Rockford treated the young senior citizens to a “love” pre-Valentine senior prom last Friday night, held at the Rockford Event Center.
It was very successful and enjoyed by everyone who attended. Butch and I had more fun at a social event than we have had in a long time. It lifted our Valentine love spirit. We did feel young in our 70-plus years dancing the night away with slow dancing and the electric slide, and no harm done in that!
It helped strengthen my knee and removed the pain I had been carrying for some weeks. Mrs. Mazell S. Moon can witness to that statement that I shared with her, and I thank her. Other activities were performed, but I don’t want to overstep the special news article from the mayor’s office of the occasion. I am just a columnist of “Union Square News,” and only my personal thoughts and facts on the occasion I’ll write. We truly enjoyed the hours. Thank you to all employees of Town Hall.
Children’s Corner
The children of Rockford Church of God celebrated their Valentine’s Day last Sunday with little Jasmine Kluge celebrating her fifth birthday. She turned 5 years old on February 10, with lots of love and gifts from her parents, Lexie and Marshall Kluge; grandparents, Thomas and Joyce Taylor; siblings; and church family. Happy birthday, Jasmine. We love you.
Birthday wishes go out to Bro. Wayne Weeks and to all February babies, including Deacon Robert Shaw.
In loving memories of Dr. Willie Lee Maxwell, happy heavenly birthday on February 22, from Butch and your “paper girl,” he called me.
We pray for the sick and shut-ins all over the world.
“It’s better to long for God’s love than long for any love.”
