Student Government Association (SGA) member Rebekah Burton led her fellow SGA members Zyriah Meadows, Elijah Richardson and Alex Williams in creating educational and inspiring bulletin boards. One of the bulletin boards displays quotes such as “Get to class, so you can pass,” from Coach Russaw.
The second bulletin board educates the student body about the Coosa County Training Center, also known as J.D. Thompson High School. The display includes a history of the only black school located in Coosa County; the busing of the colored children; and the history of the mascot, principal and the alumni who were and are currently employed in Coosa County School System.
Other activities for the month include a door decorating contest and dress-up days. The culminating activity will be a field trip to the J.D. Thompson High School museum for eleventh grade students. Thank you, J.D. Thompson alumni, for providing historical and educational activities for our students right here in Coosa County.
