The Master Builders Robotics Team competed at the Gigawatts Qualifier in Fort Payne this past Saturday. They were awarded the Core Values Award, which is given to the team that displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and shows each other and other teams respect at all times. The Master Builders finished second overall and received a bid to the Alabama Championship on February 18.
The team presented their Innovation Project and Robot Design to a panel of judges, as well as competing in three rounds of the Robot Game. Points were awarded from each of these three areas to compile a final score. Their team T-shirts were also a huge hit with everyone.
The state qualifier will also be in Fort Payne on February 18. A live stream, located at www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlVf0EZ4qdI, will be available to watch. There will also be a public leaderboard that will be viewable at https://bit.ly/3JzlukB that will be updated during the event with robot game scores.
The Master Builder team members are Kaleb Ballard, Kyle Ballard, Matthew Eubanks, Grayson Kelly, Wyatt Kimbrell, David Lee, and Noah Thornton. Their coach is Meg Masters. Team mentors are Nick Nicholson and Dre Burton.
