Buzzy the Buzzard
My sharper-than-eagle eyes are always scanning the ground; that is how I survive. The past couple of weeks have been unusual. A wad of insulation in this tree, a chunk of foam in the road, tin in the grass, tiny bits of roofing tile and flooring… there is stuff everywhere. And it keeps on coming.
We have enough of a litter problem around here with slobs that can’t keep track of their stuff. Now we have storm debris, as well.
But then I realized that each piece represents someone’s loss. Each piece is part of a home, blown to bits and lofted thousands of feet in the air.
Each piece is also a reminder of how connected we are as a community. The storm had a huge and unfortunate impact. But, volunteers came out to rescue, clean up and repair. Thanks. Thanks. And thanks again. It is vital that we help one another, and build back stronger.
Here’s to the cleanup crews! I’ll be your eye in the sky.
