Alan Dale Barker

 

On Friday afternoon, January 13, 2023, Mr. Alan Dale Barker, 70, of Alexander City, finished his course here on this earth, surrounded by his loved ones at his home. He truly fought the good fight of faith. Funeral service was Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the Alexander City True Holiness Church. Bro. Jim Hawkins, Bro. Randall Stone, and Bro. Gary Blankenship officiated. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery.

Mr. Barker passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023. He was born in Montgomery on October 1, 1952, to Thurston and Lorraine Barker and graduated from Elmore County High School and spent the majority of his life living and raising his family in the Hackneyville community. He worked as a civil engineer for over 35 years with the Alabama Department of Transportation. A man of faith, he spent the last 30 years living for and loving the Lord. He was a faithful, loving, and much loved member of the True Holiness Church of God of Alexander City. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, singing, and playing the guitar and especially spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Delbra Barker of Alexander City; daughters, Heather Moore (Richard) of Jacksons Gap and Amanda O’Harra (Tim) of Hackneyville; grandchildren, Isaiah Moore and Amelia Moore; brother, Mark Barker (Beth) of Kellyton; sister-in-law, Gail Barker of Hackneyville; nieces, Ashley Barker and Maddie Barker; nephew, Micah Barker (Keishia); and great-nephew, Lane Barker.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tony Barker.

Misty Lynn Johnson

 

Funeral services for Misty Lynn Johnson, age 49, of Rockford, will be Friday, January 20, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Rev. Jeff Harris and Rev. Sheldon Hutcherson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 at the funeral home on Friday, January 20. She will be laid to rest at Sears Chapel Cemetery in Rockford.

Misty passed away Monday, January 16, 2023, at UAB Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Kelley B. Johnson; son, Taylor Brian Johnson; daughter, Kaitlyn “K.K.” Johnson; mother, Sheri Grant; sister, Paula “P” Blair; brother, Jared Cothran; niece, Layton “Bug” Bullard; and two grandchildren, Adalynn “Scoot” Williams and Charlie McDonald.

Misty loved adventure including camping, boating, fishing, and traveling the world. She was affectionately known by her family as YaYa and Sissy and was the best YaYa to her grandbabies.

Pallbearers will be Brady Grice, Jared Cothran, Sheldon Hutcherson, Mike Smith, Jamey Johnson, and Brian Hughes.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Sears Chapel Cemetery Trust Fund; c/o Karen Hammond; 4235 Jackson Trace Rd.; Titus, AL 36080.

James Glen Sartwell, Jr.

 

Funeral service for Mr. James Glen Sartwell Jr., 63, of Goodwater, was Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Michael Strong officiated.

Mr. Sartwell passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Brookwood Medical Center. He was born on November 14, 1959, to James Glen Sartwell Sr. and Mary Ann Rice Sartwell. He was a simple, hardworking man who loved his wife and children. James started J&J Heating and Air Conditioning with his son in 2014. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. James enjoyed simple things like going out to eat and listening to classic rock and contemporary Christian music. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and animals.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra Sartwell; children, Alma Sartwell, James Glen Sartwell III, Goldie Sartwell, and Katherine Sartwell, all of Goodwater; and brother, John Sartwell of Gerrardstown, W.V.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Sartwell.
