Richville Rundown

Happy New Year! 2023! Wow, a new year is here. I always heard the older you get the faster time flies. It’s definitely been flying for me. School is half over and seems just the other day they started.
It was so good to be in church on Sunday, January 1. Associational Missionary David Crowe brought a great message from Numbers. All the churches in the area had services on Sunday to start the new year off right.
School started back this week on Tuesday, January 3, as an e-learning day because of the forecast of severe weather. So, once again, those big yellow buses are rolling. Be sure to watch morning and afternoon for stops.
Brother George, Staci, Ayden, and Alyssa are getting settled in their new home in South Carolina. We will miss them, but wish them the best.
Last week was extremely cold with Christmas Day being the coldest we’ve had in a while. Then New Year’s was unseasonably warm, bringing in severe weather before it is back to the normal range for the year.
Brother Tim gave us a “read the bible through in 2023” schedule. I am looking forward to doing that this year.
One of the readings for this week is Psalm 8. So, for my Bible verses to share this week, I want to share Psalm 8:1-2 which reads, “LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”
What wonderful verses to start the year. This psalm is one of praise which reflects God’s glory and the glory He has destined for mankind. God is so great and powerful that He can use babies and children to receive praise and destroy the enemy. There is a hymn that uses the first words of these verses. According to the dictionary “majestic” means having or showing impressive beauty or dignity. Just the name “Lord” brings an image of glory and power! Imagine the beauty and grandeur of Heaven; we can’t begin to comprehend what’s in store for us.
Continue to be in prayer for those that have recently lost their loved one regardless of circumstances. This time of year especially is hard for families. There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will, as well. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
