Happy New Year to everyone from the Square. Let’s begin this new year with grateful hearts. Let’s acknowledge God’s goodness and thank Him in every situation, no matter what we are going through.
When we are grateful for what God has already given us, He gives us more. But when we murmur, gripe and complain, we are expressing unbelief, and He cannot bless us when we are in that position. When we become more conscious of God’s love we can find something positive in negative circumstances.
When we constantly thank God and praise Him for what we have, it strengthens our faith and blesses others, and our praise also blesses our God. He inhabits the praises of His people. He dwells in our praises!
Let’s praise Him today. This is my story, my resolution, for 2023.
Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting will be Monday, January 9, at 6 p.m.
We wish our Union Square neighbors Tim Taylor and Jim Morton a belated happy birthday December 24 and 29, and to my niece Desi Few on December 28.
Happy birthday to all early January babies.
Prayers are being sent out to Mrs. Cynthia Burton, Minister Frankie Cousin, Mr. Jim Morton, Carrie Tuck, Tee Pope, Vickie Scott, and to all loved ones who are in the valley right now, including Union Square’s Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Taylor. Don’t worry; be happy. (Smile.)
You are in my greatest thoughts, Revenue Commissioner Debra Lamberth, Mrs. Debbie and Mr. David Miller, Judge Carlton and Mrs. Kim Teel; hoping all is well.
We send our sincere condolences to the Parkers, Burtons and Brooks in the loss of a lovely sweet lady, Mrs. Elnora Burton Parker, the mother of Lady Patricia Brooks (Bishop Jimmy Brooks), wonderful people to know. May God bless them and keep them in His care.
We are very grateful for Rockford Mayor Scott White for all the great things he does for the town. He has truly beautified Rockford and done many other things to help uplift Rockford. We thank him and everyone who played a part in getting Nixburg Road repaired. What a blessing!
Did you see the beautiful Christmas decorations at his home? It reminded us of the Browns’ home on County Road 18 at Christmas years ago. We miss the sightseeing at Christmas when we passed the Browns’ home now. However, Mayor White made up the difference.
We would take the long way home just to watch all the beautiful lights. Much love was put into that home, and we felt it!

Happy birthday to my great-granddaughter Chelsey J. Days, who turned 3 years old on January 2 and acts like she is 33. She is a wise little girl for 3 years old. Butch calls her “Little Bit” with a big heart. We love her dearly.
This photo is of her when she was 2 years old (on the right) and her grandmother Janice (my daughter) on the left taken when she was 18 years old. Take a close look at the resemblance.
“Great” has a lot of juice; some say she looks like me, and I love it. My daughter isn’t here any longer, but I see her in Chelsey. It brings me joy and sometimes tears, but tears of happiness to see this child operate in her doings.
