Better Together Book Signing will be held Saturday, January 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Rockford Event Center, located at 333 School Street in Rockford. This book signing event will include featured author Kioka Tuck, author Ashley Monique and author Shatara “TyWrites” Clark. The event will include author inspiration, refreshments, signed books, and more! This event is part of the Better Together Book Tour with stops planned in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana.

Former Coosa County Commissioner Unzell Kelley is sponsoring a three-day Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) event in Kellyton titled “NACA Achieve the Dream,” a one-stop location for affordable home ownership. Homebuyers and homeowners are encouraged to attend. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. January 13 and 14 and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. January 16 at the Coosa County Community Life Center located at Peace & Goodwill Church at 188 County Road 30, Kellyton. The Coosa County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisors will meet on Wednesday, January 18, at 10 a.m. at the Coosa Soil and Water District Office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157, Rockford.
There will be a Valentine Dance at the Weogufka Center on Friday, February 10, with Randy Glenn and Peppy. Dance starts at 7 p.m. Cost: $25 per couple or $15 for singles. Concessions will be sold. Come enjoy a fun evening of dancing in Weogufka!
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. The Coosa County Historical Society is looking into adding names to the Veteran’s Memorial near the old rock jail in Rockford. The organization is currently seeing how many would be interested in having a name placed on the monument. Currently they only need your name and contact information. They would need at least 10 names to keep the cost affordable. They would then contact those interested to give them the cost and payment information.
