Almost 40 college, military and business representatives provided displays, discussions and information for students and the community at the Coosa County schools’ annual College and Career Fair. Many representatives brought interactive displays which allowed the students and other attendees to test their skill aptitude in particular career fields. The entire student body of the high school attended the fair, as well as members from the community.
In an effort to get our students thinking about their college and career choices early, the fifth and sixth grade Central Elementary students were also invited to the College and Career Fair this year. Upon returning to class the students were abuzz with talk of jobs, military careers and college opportunities and the connections they made with local businesses, military recruiters and college representatives. Thank you to the Town of Rockford and the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office for providing tables for the event and the Central staff for providing an array of soups for our presenters.
If you are a local business or nonprofit who would like to participate in next year’s event or assist with other workforce prep events such as mock interviews, please email our College and Career Coach Kelsie Garrett at kgarrett@coosaschools.org so she can send you information as it becomes available. You can also follow her @CoosaCentralCareerCoach on Facebook to stay current on college and career happenings.
