Additionally, jars of homemade apple butter can make a nice gift for loved ones this holiday season. I hope you enjoy this delicious recipe, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
Ingredients:
4 lbs. mixed variety apples; peeled, cored and cut
1 c. apple cider
1 Tbs. honey
1 Tbs. lemon juice
1 1/2 c. white sugar
Directions:
Combine apples and apple cider in a large stainless steel or coated saucepan. Bring to a slow boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to a simmer until it reduces by half, about 20 minutes. Stir in honey, lemon juice and sugar. Bring back to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer until the mixture is very thick, about 25 minutes. Now it is ready to enjoy, can, or freeze.
