On Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, students and staff listened to speeches from four candidates for Student Government Association president, Grace Calfee, Alissa Cosby, Zyriah Meadows, and Makenna Sanders. The SGA president represents the entire student body in discussions with administration and promotes Cougar Pride with their actions and example. All four candidates did a great job of sharing their vision for the school year and the school and community service they have completed over their tenure as members of SGA.
Congratulations to Zyriah Meadows, who received a plurality of the student and staff votes. Also pictured are students Ellie DeLee, Sadie Harper and Donovan Gaddis showing off their “I Voted” stickers.
Zyriah did not waste any time being a positive representative of the student body. The day after being elected she served as the mistress of ceremonies for the Coosa County schools veterans program. Zyriah stated that, “Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much. I am honored to be your SGA president and to achieve every goal to make this school year the very best. I thank you for your vote and cannot wait for what this school year holds.”
