Come join us for the Veteran’s Day Program in Weogufka at the veteran’s monument, located at 145 Memorial Loop, Weogufka. The program honoring our veterans will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 6.
Help support the youth of Coosa County and Coosa County 4-H by buying a beautiful poinsettia – or two! – this season! Coosa County 4-H is having a poinsettia sale fundraiser with 8-inch red poinsettias available for $15. This includes three plants pinched with a minimum of 12 blooms. Plants are 21-25 inches tall, including pot wrapped in foil. Plants grown in Montgomery. All proceeds will be used for needs in Coosa County 4-H programs such as field trips and sponsoring youth competing at regional and state events. Make checks or money orders payable to Alabama 4-H Foundation. Payment is due with your order. Order deadline is November 10, and plants will be delivered November 21 or 22. Join the Town of Rockford as we celebrate Veterans Day on November 11 at 6 p.m. at the Rockford Event Center, located at 333 School Street. Dinner will be served. BridgeWays is introducing its newest program, Kids’ Night Out/Parents’ Night Off! This program will be held one Friday night per month, and is scheduled for November 18 and December 16. Themes will change each month. Dinner included, as well as all activities, games, crafts, and more! All current PK-fifth graders welcome. Cost: $12 per youth, per month. Drop off begins at 5:30 p.m. Pickup by 9 p.m. Program will be held at our new Program Center at 9922 U.S. Highway 231, Rockford. Registration link: https://bridgewayscoosa.campbrainregistration.com.
The Coosa County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisors will meet on Monday, November 21, at 10 a.m. at the Coosa Soil and Water District Office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157, Rockford.
Rockin’ Coosa Christmas event will be held December 10 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. We will have plenty of fun festivities including vendors with food, items for purchase and games for children. The library will be holding an open house inside Town Hall with additional fun festivities.
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Friends of Flagg Mountain host a potluck dinner (bring something to share) with entertainment by local musicians on the First Friday of every month. The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. The Coosa County Historical Society is looking into adding names to the Veteran’s Memorial near the old rock jail in Rockford. The organization is currently seeing how many would be interested in having a name placed on the monument. Currently they only need your name and contact information. They would need at least 10 names to keep the cost affordable. They would then contact those interested to give them the cost and payment information.
