Both girls, boys Junior High basketball teams started season off on high note

Central hosted B.B. Comer for the opening games of their Junior High basketball season, with both teams taking strong leads against the Tigers. The Junior High girls basketball team is coached by Debbie Phillips, who is assisted by Jaylen Street, Syreeta McKinney and Alan Reeser. Ja’Katlyn Kelley, a first-time player, got the crowd excited by shooting a three pointer, scoring the first points of the game. Pictured is Lamiya Harrison scoring a free throw. The final score for the girls game was 22-12, Central.
The boys raked up even more points against the Tigers. Keyon Richardson, Jevon Peterson, Travanti Odem, Zaccai Lauderdale, and Donovan Gaddis all stepped up big on defense with multiple plays, pushing the Cougars over the top. The crowd roared with pride when Wesley Casas made two out of three of his free throws after being fouled on a three-point shot. The Junior High boys basketball team is coached by Brad Moon, who is assisted by Mike Edwards. The final score for the boys game was 49-10, Central.
