The Reader’s Nook
If you are a book worm or just like to read, come visit your Rockford Public Library. The library is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is located inside of Rockford Town Hall.
Five volunteers make up the library’s board, and they meet every two months. Current board members are Chairman Lena Johnston, Pat Windsor, Charlyne DeBardelaben, Dorothy Dunlap, and Carol Mullendore.
We have a great selection of books, and we are constantly adding new releases to our library. It only takes a few minutes to obtain a library patron card which allows access to all areas of the library.
To obtain a patron card the following information is needed: name, address, phone number, email address, and one form of identification. All children must be sponsored by an adult patron.
We partner with other libraries in the area through Horseshoe Bend Regional Library. One of the benefits with this partnership is an inter library loan program where we can attempt to locate books requested that are not found in our library.
If the book is found at one of these libraries, the book will be mailed to Rockford on loan for a month to give the patron the opportunity to read the book.
Our next column will discuss other library services that are available to our patrons.
The Rockford Public Library is located inside Rockford Town Hall at 9688 U.S. Highway 231. The library can be reached via phone at 256-377-4911.
