Tommie Junior “Blu” Belyue

 

We are saddened to announce the transition of Mr. Tommie Junior “Blu” Belyue from earth to Heaven on Sunday, September 4, 2022.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 12, 2022, in the sanctuary of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. Rev. Stanford Benson served as eulogist.

Mr. Tommie Junior Belyue was born on October 4, 1969, in Alexander City to Mrs. Mary Davis Belyue and Mr. Eugene Belyue.

He accepted Christ into his life at an early age.

Blu, as he was affectionately known, was a devoted son, brother and uncle who loved his family. He was an avid Alabama “Roll Tide” fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Belyue; and sister, Bobby Faye Herron; and a brother-in-law, Willie Strong.

On Sunday, September 4, 2022, Tommie peacefully transitioned home to be with the Lord at his residence.

Blu leaves to cherish his precious memories four sisters, Rosa Whetstone, Glenda Strong, Betty Belyue, Mary Lynn, all of Kellyton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; along with three special friends, Rodney Robinson, Elijah Kelly and Larry Leonard.

Nellie Faye Bussie

 

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Nellie Faye Arnold Bussie, age 80, of Goodwater, passed away September 27, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at Radney-Smith Funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Faye is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Bussie; four children, Debbie Gilliam (Dennis), Phil Bussie, Ginger Bussie, Lori McDaniel (Wayne); 12 grandchildren, Olivia Cobb, Eli Cobb, Reid Gilliam, Anna Grace Gilliam, Lacy Gilliam, Cole Bussie, Cody Bussie, Kenzi Allen (Stephen), Colton Crew, Devon Ward (Travis), Marlee Byrd (Cameron), and Mitch McDaniel; and brother, Terry Arnold (Sybil); niece, Marsha Haynes (Steve); nephew, Brad Arnold (Misty); and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dollie and Grady Arnold; and brothers, Bobby Arnold and Don Arnold.

Faye was a valued employee of the Coosa County Municipal System for most of her career. After her retirement, Faye continued to guide her family through faith and love by being the matriarch of a large family. She loved the Lord and loved her family.

Pallbearers are Cole Bussie, Cody Bussie, Mitch McDaniel, Eli Cobb, Jimmy Lee Honeycutt, and Terry Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Gilliam, Brad Arnold, Don Ellison, Marion Brown, and Alfonso Duncan.

Neal Culberson

 

Funeral service for Rev. Neal Culberson, 72, of Decatur, will be Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church with Bro. Tim Barnes and Bro. Mark Adams officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Hanover.

Mr. Culberson died Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at his residence.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Culberson; and two daughters, Mary Ann Culberson and Christina Culberson.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church.

Patricia (Pat) Annette Gordon

 

Today we celebrate the life of Patricia (Pat) Annette Gordon, 73, of Sylacauga. Pat left this earthly world on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City.

Pat is survived by her husband of 36 years, Tim Gordon of Sylacauga; two daughters, Kimberly Thornton of Kellyton and Dawn Carr (husband, Rodney) of Millerville; one son, Cody Gordon of Panama City, Florida; and a special bonus daughter, April Parish (husband, Jamie) of Anniston. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Dewayne (wife, Amanda) of Kellyton, Jerrod (girlfriend, Meghan) of Talladega, Kaylee (boyfriend, Luke) of Millerville, Amelia Gordon of Panama City, Florida, and Emily Parrish of Anniston; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Zayne, Eli, Meleah and Jayda; three brothers, Roger (wife, Nancy) Sherum of Goodwater, Tommy Sherum and Lynn (wife, Star) Sherum of Sylacauga; two brothers-in-law, Steve Gordon (wife, Sue) of Goodwater and Mark Gordon (wife, Lori) of Sylacauga; five nieces; and five nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Thornton, of 18 years; mother, Ethel Sherum; and father, Roy Sherum; infant brother, Arther; sister, Roberta Cochran; sister-in-law, Melanie Gordon; infant nephew, Zachary Gordon; and niece, Katie Gordon.

Pat loved life, but yearned for the day to be with her eternal savior, Jesus Christ. She lived her life as a devout Christian and was a dedicated member of Crooked Creek Independent Baptist Church where she loved to teach the ladies Sunday School class and used her voice of love for the Lord in the church choir and as a volunteer singer on Sunday morning, not only at Crooked Creek, but at many other churches in and around her.

Pat spent many years as an employee at Russell Textile Mills in Alexander City, but had spent the last 30-plus years as a housewife, mother and grandmother. She also cared for her father and sister before their deaths and was ALWAYS there for her family and friends without hesitation.

To know Pat, was to love her! She never spoke ill of anyone, and she loved everybody with all her heart. While she will be missed dearly, her family knows that she is at peace in the arms of her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and would like to take this time to thank each and every one who has sent prayers, love and their condolences for them during this difficult time.

Visitation was Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service followed at 3 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Lori Gordon officiating. Burial was at Bradford United Methodist Church Cemetery in Goodwater.

Miss Paisley Murray

 

Graveside service for Miss Paisley Murray, 4, of Rockford, was Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Bullard Cemetery.

Miss Murray passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022. She was born on June 15, 2018, in Montgomery to Martin Kent Murray and Kirsten Shaw. She loved watching SpongeBob and Ice Age. She enjoyed playing with cars, trucks and bubbles.

She is survived by her mother, Kirsten Shaw of Rockford; father, Martin Kent Murray of Eclectic; sister, Audrey Murray; grandparents, Thomas Murray, Jack and Eleanor Clark, all of Eclectic, and Ricky and Cristy Shaw of Wetumpka; aunts, Angel Shaw, Amalee Shaw, Kim Shaw, Jesse Murray, Amber Murray, Kayla Murray, and Marlena Murray; and uncles, Kyle Shaw and Levi Shaw.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rose Murray, and cousin, Josiah Meadors.
