As part of the Literacy Everywhere Grant Coosa County Sheriff Michael Howell and deputies received books to distribute with children in the county. The program will also expand to include the Goodwater Police Department in the upcoming year. The goal of this program is to develop positive interactions with law enforcement officers while promoting literacy in the community. The program is a joint project between Coosa County Schools Literacy Everywhere project director Meg Masters and the Alabama Parent Education Center. Pictured are Sheriff Michael Howell and Coosa County deputies Scott Hammond, Don Hodge, George Long, Brad Moon, Mike Rudd, Travis Ward, and William Bradberry who will help to distribute books to youth in Coosa County.
