Six Sundays to Literacy kicked off Sunday, September 11, at New Home Missionary Baptist Church as part of the $1.8 million literacy grant Coosa County schools received The project is a collaborative effort between the Coosa County Schools’ Literacy Everywhere Grant and the Alabama Parent Education Center (APEC) to promote literacy in the community and home. Students were able to pick books to take home, and parents received tips for teaching literacy. This event was just the beginning of the program and will be expanding to include other churches in Coosa County.
