Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
Union Square is in mourning this week. We have lost a great soldier of the Square, a true man of wisdom, a man of the King, the president of Union Square Neighborhood Watch, and the rock husband of sweet Mrs. Jean Baker.
President Steve Baker was also the rock of Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch organization and did an awesome job! It will be hard for us on Tuesday to walk into the meeting and not see Mr. Baker. Tuesday, September 6, is our special meeting day instead of Monday, September 5, because of Labor Day falling on our Monday. So remember Tuesday now! Please come out, neighbors, despite the pain in our hearts for Mr. Baker. He would want us to be there for sure. We miss him already.
Please pray for the family and also for Union Square. Everyone in Union Square loved President Baker for who he was and what he did so willingly.
I hope everyone will have a blessed Labor Day. Make the best of it. Work or play, just enjoy the day.
Happy birthday to Union Square’s co-treasurer Mrs. Janice Kilgore, Mrs. Joyce Taylor and Trinity Hill all on the same day, August 28.
The last days are approaching fast, and people are taking their time to get it right with God, being mean and unkind to each other. Our lips say one thing, but our actions show another. Kindness is a fruit of the spirit, which as Christians we all possess. But we often forget to demonstrate this fruit in our lives.
Just a simple act of kindness can make a difference in one’s life. For example: A new little boy starting preschool was crying when his mother left him there. Well it got a little girl’s attention, and after the teacher could not stop him from crying, she came over, put her arms around the little boy and gave him a hug, then took his hand and walked him over to where other children were playing. A big smile broke out on his face, and his tears immediately dried.
Ephesians 4:32 reads, “And be ye kind one to another.”
“Whatever God is blessing, bless it.”
