Archie
Billy
There are always plenty of pets ready for adoption at the Elmore County Humane Shelter, but you must call first, fill our an application, and then when it’s approved you may make an appointment to suit you to view the dogs featured or any that are ready for adoption at the shelter.
Director Rea Cord, or any of the volunteers, will be happy to handle your questions or needs if you call them at 334-567-3377.
Everyone at this shelter does such an excellent job and can certainly explain the wants and needs of an animal you might be interested in to share your loving home.
This week’s picks begin with Archie (I think he is a very handsome lad.), 5 years old and about 30 pounds, appearing to look as though he is possibly a heeler/Jack Russell mix. He was found as a stray and taken to the shelter in Wetumpka, and no one came to retrieve him.
Archie is a very low-key boy actually, good with other dogs and cats, but more independent – happy to just do his own thing. He also likes to explore. So, if you are looking for a great-sized dog as your laid-back companion, Archie may be the one for you.
Billy is an 8-month-old male lab/shepherd looking mix pup according to the folks at the Elmore County shelter. He is a bit shy at first, but very sweet. He loves exploring and playing with toys. Billy is good with other dogs and should be in the 50 pound range when he’s fully grown. Just right for those looking to train a larger dog.
The usual fee for adopting a dog is $100, and that covers rabies shot, de-worming, heartworm check, microchip, spay/neuter, the first vet visit, and is such a bargain.
Until the next time, please bring the dogs inside when we have these downpours. If they are like mine, they hate thunderstorms.
The Dog Lover.
