Equality Volunteer Fire Department is holding a Labor Day fundraiser with a Boston butt and ribs sale! Boston butts will be $35 each, and racks of ribs are $25. Delivery date is September 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the old Equality fire station. May be available to pick up Friday night. BrdigeWays is introducing its newest program, Kids’ Night Out/Parents’ Night Off! This program will be held one Friday night per month, and is scheduled for September 16, October 21, November 18, and December 16. Themes will change each month. Dinner included, as well as all activities, games, crafts, and more! All current PK-fifth graders welcome. Cost: $12 per youth, per month. Drop off begins at 5:30 p.m. Pickup by 9 p.m. Program will be held at our new Program Center at 9922 U.S. Highway 231, Rockford. Registration link: https://bridgewayscoosa.campbrainregistration.com.
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Friends of Flagg Mountain host a potluck dinner (bring something to share) with entertainment by local musicians on the First Friday of every month. The Coosa County Republican Party meets the fourth Monday of every month at the Coosa County E-911 building in Rockford with refreshments at 6 p.m. and the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. For more information email email@example.com.
The Hanover Neighborhood Watch Meeting is held quarterly, typically on the third Tuesday of the month, at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department building at 6:30 p.m. The spring meeting will be held the third Tuesday in March, the summer meeting on the third Tuesday in June, and the fall meeting on the third Tuesday in September. The winter meeting will be held in December, with the date to be determined at the fall meeting. Always a potluck meal before the meeting begins, and sometimes a special program to follow. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
The Coosa County Historical Society is looking into adding names to the Veteran’s Memorial near the old rock jail in Rockford. The organization is currently seeing how many would be interested in having a name placed on the monument. Currently they only need your name and contact information. They would need at least 10 names to keep the cost affordable. They would then contact those interested to give them the cost and payment information.
