Pets of the Week: Fez and Gadget
The Elmore County Humane Shelter in Wetumpka has two lovely dogs featured this week and ready for adoption. Myself, I just love a black and white mix dog, even though none of mine are that flavor; the cat, Toby, does fit that bill.
The sixteenth annual Bark in the Park will be coming up on Sunday afternoon, September 18, at Fort Toulouse in Wetumpka as usual. More news on the details will be forthcoming about this fun day, so you may want to mark the calendar for that date.
Fez is possibly a lab/pit mix male at 1 year old and about 50 pounds. He went to the shelter as a foundling stray that no one came to collect. Fez gets all excited to meet people at first, but them calms down quickly and loves attention! He is very playful and great with other dogs; not sure about cats. He just loves everyone and wants a family to call his own.
The second sweet dog ready for adoption is called Gadget, a lovely looking white and black female lab/pit mix at about 35-40 pounds. Gadget also came to the Elmore County Shelter as a stray and was never reclaimed. She’s super sweet and loves people, very playful and loves the attention. Gadget is great with other dogs and is looking for her forever home. Could that be with you?
As always fees for dogs stays at $100 and covers all you need to get them home and started on family life – rabies shot, de-worming, heartworm test, spay/neuter, microchip, and more. This price is such a bargain; you even get the first vet check-up for free.
If you want to see about adopting from this shelter, just go to the website to complete an application. Once that is accepted, you will get an appointment to visit and meet the dogs of your choosing.
The Coosa County volunteers are steadily working on getting the new shelter ready, but need a lot of items before they can open. The kind folks of Kellyton recently donated $5,000, and grants are on the way. They need appliances and other things. If you would like to donate, please call for information, 256-391-7192.
Remember the animals depend on us, and we are the keeper of the animals. Be kind and generous, and as always, leave plenty of cold drinkable water for every season.
Until next time,
The Dog Lover
