As part of the implementation of the literacy grant Coosa County schools received, high school students spend at least 20 minutes a day in Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) of a book of their interest during their afternoon PAWS class. Mascots Clyde and Clydette show us that even they enjoy reading. They chose books about rats and snakes so they can learn more about their prey. Students are also reading content area texts daily in their core classes and elective courses to gain knowledge in those content areas.
