Happy anniversary to Pastor Chris and Lady Mandy Hill!
Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting is Monday, June 6, at 6 p.m. So come on out, everyone, and catch up on some new news.
There has been so much sad news lately – school killing, loved ones dying, etc. So let me give you a little happy news. A friend of ours had open heart surgery some months ago, a very serious one, and everyone thought he would not make it through, but he did. He came home and has been doing very well ever since then.
Another friend of his saw how well he was doing and told him, “Look, man, God wasn’t ready for you to die, and the devil didn’t want you.” We all got a good laugh from that.
Sometimes we have to turn “death” thoughts into living and go on laughing until we reach our everlasting home, where there will be nothing but joy, happiness and laughing with the King forever.
Rockford Church of God wishes the greatest pastor and his lovely wife 17 years of true love. Pastor Chris and Lady Mandy Hill said “I do” on May 14, 17 years ago, and have been saying “I will” ever since. Congratulations to a beautiful couple, and may you have many more blessed years to come.
Last Sunday was another great worship service, and God is not through blessing us yet. He has so much more, but we must be willing to accept.
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday and honored Memorial Day for someone they knew and loved. This Memorial Day reminded me of a dear friend and classmate, Foster Brooks, who died in war serving our country overseas.
Tears fall when I think of him and how he left us. We will always have him in our hearts. Thank you, Foster.
I had some work done on my eyes, so my column will be short this week.
Happy birthday to my nephew Rayford Crayton, Paula Burton Hamilett, my niece Anita Patterson, my sister Peggy Crayton, and to all May babies.
Let’s continue to pray for the families impacted by the Texas school tragedy. Prayer list: Bro. Wayne Weeks, Mond Hill and Peggy Crayton.
Butch and I thank Thelma Hill and Rockford First Baptist for their food ministry. Every fourth Saturday plates are given to whoever wishes to enjoy some good food. You can call Ms. Thelma Hill at 256-496-4748.
