Voncille P. Baker


Graveside service for Mrs. Voncille P. Baker, 74, of Kellyton, was Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Socopatoy Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Boulware officiated.

Mrs. Baker passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Russell Medical. She was born on September 22, 1947, in Alexander City to Archie Pike and Norma L.

She is survived by her son, Carl Wade Baker; daughter, Kelly Goggins; stepdaughters, Debbie Baker, Donna Sorenson; stepsons, Tim Baker, Donnie Baker; granddaughter, Stephanie Hudson; great-grandchildren, Bryson Jones, and Corbin Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Hubert C. Baker; parents; and sister, Shirley McIntyre.

Brenda Nolen


Funeral service for Mrs. Brenda Nolen, 78, of Alexander City, will be Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Faith Temple. Pastor Dick Stark will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nolen passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021, at her residence. She was born on October 13, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Raymond Harrison Lasater and Lois Christine Biggers Lasater. She was an active member of Faith Temple where she sang in the choir. She loved to play piano, paint and shop.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Nolen of Alexander City; son, Randall S. Nolen of Dadeville; grandchildren, Jessica A. Fuller (Will) of New Site and Christina Thornton (Billy) of Goodwater; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Fuller, Brianna Peters, and Katie Peters.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Matthew “Buddy” Patterson Sr.


Mr. Matthew “Buddy” Patterson Sr. was born January 6, 1927, in Coosa County. He was the son of the late Mr. Sylvester Sr. and Mrs. Mollie Goggans Patterson.

He retired from Avondale Company, Rockford. Matthew was of the Baptist Faith.

He departed this life on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Russell Medical Center, Alexander City.

He was preceded in death by his children: Sarah Frank Hannon and Winston Patterson.

Mr. Patterson leaves to cherish his memories his children: Matthew Patterson Jr. and Martha Patterson of Youngstown, Ohio, Anita Patterson of Rockford, Frances Patterson of Sylacauga, Mary Ann Morris and Geraldine Robinson (Robert) of Columbus, Ohio, and Katherine Wilson (George) of Georgia; and a host of grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. He was the last of 14 siblings.

A private memorial service was held Saturday, October 16, 2021, on County Road 23 in Rockford.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Armour’s Memorial Services of Alexander City.
