Joseph Forney Gilliland
Graveside memorial service for Mr. Joseph Forney Gilliland, 93, of Goodwater, will be Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 10:40 a.m. at the Gilliland Family Cemetery. Minister David Rozelle will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Gilliland passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Goodwater Healthcare Center. He was born on September 4, 1927, in Sylacauga to Jones Stephens Gilliland and Maidhof Bridges Gilliland. Mr. Gilliland was a World War II veteran and participated in the Occupation Forces in the South Pacific. After the war he attended the University of Alabama and returned to Goodwater where he was employed at Peoples Trust and Savings Bank, he was co-owner of Southern Casket Company with his brother and eventually owned and operated Hatchett Creek Golf Club in Goodwater. While managing Hatchett Creek Golf Club, Joe also planted a blueberry orchard where he and his wife kept friends and family in ample supply of fresh blueberries. After retiring, Joe enjoyed gardening, fishing, meeting his friends for breakfast at the coffee club, and feeding his Canadian Geese. He was uncle to many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews who enjoyed visiting Uncle Joe, where they rode in golf carts, fed and caught catfish and ate blueberries until they “popped.” In later years Joe was blessed to have neighbors, the Tylers, who treated him like family and enabled him to remain independent as long as possible.
He is survived by his sister, Betsy Gilliland Eyraud; nieces, Meg Gilliland Sanders (George), Marian Eyraud Murphy; and nephew, J. Steve Gilliland III.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Shirlea Edmonson Gilliland; parents; and brothers, Jones Stephens Gilliland Jr. and Thomas Henry Gilliland.

Charles “Charlie” Meadows
Funeral service for Mr. Charles “Charlie” Meadows, 63, of Kellyton, was Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Brown officiated. Burial followed in the Socapatoy Cemetery.
Mr. Meadows passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Baptist Medical Center South (Montgomery). He was born on April 9, 1958, in Tallapoosa County to Wilbur J Meadows and Mary Nell Kirk Meadows. Charlie was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished every moment he spent with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, and riding horses.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary F. Meadows; daughters, Crystal Michelle Taunton, Courtney Nicole Carden (Joseph); grandsons, Austin Taunton, Bryson Carden; and brother, Leon Meadows.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

David Morris Tuck
A home-going service celebrating the life and legacy of Mr. David Morris Tuck was held Friday, August 6, 2021, at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Christopher Todd serving as eulogist. Interment followed in the New Home Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. David Tuck, age 66, departed this life on July 30, 2021, at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery. He was born to Betty Tuck Burton and Jessie James Kelly. He united with the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church on Fishpond Road in Alexander City.
Tuck attended Laurel High School from the first grade to the ninth grade. Upon integration he attended Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City in the class of 1973. He received his undergraduate degree in sociology from Alabama A&M University, Huntsville, in 1977 (Go Bulldogs). He also earned his Para-Legal Certificate from Auburn University Montgomery and received his master’s degree in criminal justice at Auburn University Montgomery. He worked for the State of Alabama Department of Corrections from 1980-2010.
On June 12, 1982, David married the love of his life. They enjoyed 39 years of blissful love and happiness. Mr. Tuck devoted 22 years of service to the Coosa County Board of Education. While working on the board he became a Certified Masters Level Board Member through the Alabama Association of School Boards. He was very passionate for Coosa County school children and was very proud of the children graduating and going to the next level in their lives. It was his goal to make every attempt that the students achieve their career field. He invested countless hours on how this small county school system could help the students achieve their goals. As a result of his hard work, Coosa County students became teachers, engineers, doctors, nurses, carpenters, etc.
Tuck felt the importance of having everyone in Coosa and Tallapoosa counties who were of voting age to register to vote and know their history. His message was to lend a hand to someone and to help the community in which you live, and then your living would not have been in vain.
Tuck was a man that enjoyed being a member of several civic active organizations that aided in changes of people in our country: Alabama Democratic Association (served as chairman of 3rd District for several years), Coosa County Democratic Association, COPAC, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Alabama Association of School Boards, Coosa County Farmers Civic Organization, Black Heritage Council, Alabama Historical Commission, The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights, and African American Culture at Alabama State. He felt much honored to be able to attend the 1995 Million Man March in Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by Betty Ruth Burton and his step-fathers, John Robert Flowers and Bennie P. Burton.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Hilda Ruth Tuck; two children, Je’an-Chauncey Julius (Tracie) Tuck of Montevallo and Kioka Chalece Tuck of Rockford; brothers, Daniel Tuck of Atlanta, Georgia, and Robert (Yvonne) Flowers of Birmingham; one sister, Marcella (Jerry) Wimbush, and Rev. Wayne (Brenda) Davis of Kellyton; nine step-sisters and step-brothers, Bennie Mae (Jerry) White, Brenda (Earnest) Odem, Fonda (Oscar) Ford, Jernell (Abram) Anderson, Tara (Sydney) Johnson, Rev. Kendell (Linda) Burton, Van Burton, Earl Burton, and Ervin Burton; one aunt, Peggy Massengale of Alexander City; niece, Keshia Flowers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

James Hayward Weldon
Funeral service for Mrs. James Hayward Weldon, 56, of Jacksons Gap, will be Friday, August 13, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kellyton Memory Garden. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Weldon passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at her residence. She was born on August 5, 1965, in Alexander City to Henry Weldon and Clara Reese Fuller Weldon.
She is survived by her son, James E. Hickman (Linda) of Munford; daughter, Linda Diane Mahan of Perryville; sister, Kimberly Reese Weldon; brothers, Henry Farrell Weldon and Marcus V. Weldon (Jennifer) of Kellyton; step-daughter, Nona Baker; and grandchild, Beth Nicole Kirk.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Earl Hickman, and second husband, James Nolen Nelson; her parents; and sister, William Wynette Weldon.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Radney Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.
