Mrs Lea’s fourth grade students lab assessed students’ ability to measure liquid volume with graduated cylinders, as well as finding the volume of solids using the water displacement method.
In addition, they had to organize different volumes of graduated cylinders from smallest volume to largest volume. There was a tricky tall thin cylinder thrown in for fun, but using their problem solving skills, they were quick to put it in its correct place.
Mrs. Compher’s third grade students lab assessed their ability to contrast the English and metric liquid volumes, but in a fun way by using water dyed with food coloring.
Mrs. White’s high school anatomy students used Play-Doh to create models of the human body tissues. They did an outstanding job replicating what the tissues look like under a microscope.
In addition, Mrs. White’s chemistry students were assessed on their ability to contrast states of matter using dry ice.
Thank you to Coosa County Schools science coach Shelley Wood for sharing pictures and information.
