Life Skills students recently completed a lesson on kitchen safety and following direction in their learning lab.
The students, led by paraprofessional Tabitha Hyatt, role played kitchen safety scenarios and then took a safety assessment before preparing their recipe for fall cookies.
In preparing the cookies the students had to use their reading, as well as math, skills in order to carefully follow the recipe’s directions.
After enjoying the fruits of their labor, the students also learned that cooking requires clean-up such as washing, drying and putting away dishes, as well as sanitizing their kitchen space.
These hands-on Life Skill activities help prepare our students for life after high school. They are important for their growth and future independence.
We are so thankful for the learning lab facility we have for our Life Skills students. They always look forward to these weekly hands-on life skills lessons.
Thank you to Maressa Ware for sharing pictures and Tabitha Hyatt for sharing information.
