Cannot forget 9/11

 

 

9/11 is one day I will not, and cannot, forget, remembering all the people who were killed, especially my classmate, Mr. Jimmie Ira Holley, who was working in his office as an accountant at the Pentagon when the airplane crashed into the building.

Living in New York was a bitter and sweet, great experience for me after 40-some years that I lived there. I cried many tears, happy ones and sad ones, as I still shed some today.

My niece Kim Hill was laid to rest on Sunday, September 6, at Rockford First Baptist Cemetery. Her home-going service was done at the church by Pastor Stanford Benson, preaching from John 5, “My Time to Move.”

Yes, it was Kim’s time to move. We are sad and may be miserable, but God is mighty and all mighty. Pastor Benson did a great job, speaking on loving family and people while we live.

I might be sad sometimes, but I can always find joy through family and friends, even my fur babies.

Reading a quote shared from Rockford Mayor Scott White gave me joy because it’s true. He always makes me laugh. Read on: “A person can have a loaf of bread and still be jealous of your slice. It’s not what they don’t have that they don’t like, but it’s because you have it, and that’s what they don’t like.”

So let’s not fret when people are jealous. Just enjoy your loaf of bread (haha).

Happy anniversary to a special couple, Adolph and Bobbie Jenkins, 58 years of bonded “love” on September 14.
