A woman and man from the Kellyton area were arrested earlier this month on drug-related charges following a traffic stop.
On August 8 Deputy Kelley and a reserve deputy were patrolling on County Road 126 when they observed a vehicle without a license plate and initiated a traffic stop. They saw there were two individuals inside the vehicle and ran their information through the system, finding that one of them had outstanding warrants with Coosa County.
Deputies asked both individuals to step out and asked the driver if there was anything in the vehicle. Kelley further asked for consent to search the vehicle, and consent was given.
Inside the vehicle he found a black purse with a blue plastic container with a glass pipe containing residue and three baggies containing a crystal-like substance.
During body searches, Kelley also retrieved a glass pipe with residue in it from the second individual.
Joann Goodwin Carrell, 64, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. She was also arrested for three failure-to-appear warrants.
Jearl Junior Fuller, 58, was arrested and charged with use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
Carrell’s total bond was set at $8,624, and Fuller’s bond was set at $2,500. As of press time both remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Anyone who suspects or observes illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
