A traffic stop late last month resulted in a Birmingham man’s arrest on a drug-related charge.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on July 30 Deputy Kelley was patrolling U.S. Highway 280 when he observed a vehicle with heavily tinted windows.
He conducted a traffic stop, and as he approached the vehicle he smelled the odor of marijuana. After having the driver step out of the vehicle, Kelley patted him down and searched his pockets.
The driver advised Kelley that he had marijuana in his front left pocket. There Kelley found a glass tube containing a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana.
Juwan Kirkland Turk, 30, was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.
His bond was set at $2,500, and he was released on bond on July 31 to await trial.
