The Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) closed qualifying last Friday for the upcoming special primary elections for Alabama’s affected congressional districts following Gov. Kay Ivey’s proclamation calling a special primary election.
The following candidates qualified for the special Republican primary election:
- U.S. House of Representatives — Congressional District 1
- Lucas Burger
- Jerry Carl
- John Mills
- Austin Sidwell
- U.S. House of Representatives — Congressional District 2
- Hampton Harris
- Christian Horn
- Rhett Marques
- David Matthews
- Joshua McKee
- James Richardson
- U.S. House of Representatives — Congressional District 6
- Case Dixon
- Gary Palmer
- U.S. House of Representatives — Congressional District 7
- Ammie Akin
- David W. Perry
The special primary election will be held Tuesday, August 11.
Pursuant to legislation passed by the Alabama Legislature during the recent special session, there will be no runoff election associated with the special primary election. Republican nominees for the affected congressional districts will be determined solely by the results of the August 11 election.
