Special to the News
My name is Dillon Adams, and I’m proud to call the District 5 community my home.
Like many of you, my roots run deep here – this is where I grew up. I’ve built my life, raised my family and learned the value of hard work, faith and looking out for your neighbors.
I am a 51-year-old, lifelong resident of Coosa County. I am married to Jamie Adams, also a lifelong resident, and together we have four children.
Both of our families are rooted here, and Coosa County has always been home for us. We are members of Browns Chapel Church, where I am a trustee and serve on the security team.
For the past 19 years I have worked with the Talladega County Board of Education in the maintenance department in the carpentry division. Before that, I worked in construction, including brick masonry and concrete, carpentry and heavy equipment operations.
Over the last 30-plus years, I’ve worked on many projects that required hard work, problem-solving and making the most of limited resources.
I’m running for county commissioner because I feel called to serve this community and help guide its future. We face important challenges – from maintaining our roads to being good stewards of our tax dollars – and I believe in leadership that listens, shows up and takes action.
I’m not a career politician. I’m someone who understands what it means to work hard, balance responsibilities and make practical decisions every day. I believe our county government should reflect those same values: honesty, accountability and common sense.
Taxpayer dollars should be respected, and decisions should always be made with our community’s best interest in mind.
If elected, my priorities will be straightforward: improving and maintaining infrastructure, supporting our first responders and protecting the rural character that makes this area special. I also want to ensure we are creating opportunities for our families and future generations while preserving the way of life we all value.
Over the past several months, my wife and I have had the opportunity to meet so many of you across District 5.
We have truly enjoyed getting to know the people of this community, and we have heard your concerns. It is clear that many of the issues you’ve shared are real, valid and deserve thoughtful answers. These conversations have meant a lot to us and have only strengthened my commitment to serve.
It’s important for voters to understand that there is no Democratic opposition on the ballot in November. This means the May 19 primary will determine who serves as your next county commissioner. Because of this, voter turnout in the Republican primary is critical – it will decide this race.
This campaign is about our community, not politics. I’m committed to being accessible, transparent and responsive to the people I serve. When I am elected, I want to hear from you.
I would be honored to earn your vote and your trust. Together, we can move our county forward while holding on to the values that matter most.
This is the vote that counts: May 19 – Dillon Adams for commissioner
