News from Goodwater
With the start of a new generation of leadership in Goodwater, led by Mayor Karleyun Lauderdale, the town is beginning to take action on some long-overdue projects.
One of the new administration’s first goals has been the clean up and removal of the town’s dilapidated structures. Lauderdale appointed newly elected Town Councilmember Torrey Jones to oversee this project.
With the assistance of Goodwater’s Volunteer Fire Department, demolition of some of Goodwater’s decaying buildings began the week before Easter.
Lauderdale and Jones are working to engage local property owners as willing participants in this project by emphasizing its importance to the town and its residents. Property owners will be contributing to the betterment of their community while also increasing the value of their land; it’s a win for all involved.
Goodwater has much to offer, from its abundance of outdoor activities to a close-knit community to the appeal of small-town life.
Removing the blight of decaying houses and commercial structures is an important first step in being able to attract new business and residents to the town and aid in its process of rebuilding.
