Indie’s children author Negrita Smart, a native of Dadeville, has announced the upcoming release of “Daniel Chooses to Forgive,” a nonfiction picture book for ages 2-6, set to launch this spring.
Designed to introduce young readers to kindness, forgiveness and learning how to mend friendships, “Daniel Chooses to Forgive” opens the door for important conversations about emotions and second chances through engaging language and vibrant illustrations.
Forgiveness can be hard for kids to navigate. Daniel’s story uses baseball to help kids talk about big emotions.
“Writing a book about a big topic for little kids means translating complicated matters into simple, relatable moments from everyday life,” said Smart. “It affirms that emotions are normal and valid, while reminding kids that they can choose how to respond to those emotions, and one powerful choice is forgiveness.”
“Daniel Chooses to Forgive” is intentionally written for early childhood, using simple explanations and visual storytelling to teach a valuable lesson. The book is well suited for storytime, classrooms, libraries, and churches.
“Daniel Chooses to Forgive” will be available in paperback format and can be pre-ordered through www.negritasmart.com. Interview opportunities are available upon request.
Smart, who has previously participated as a guest during Goodwater Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, is a best-selling and award-winning children’s book author.
She is the author of “Grace and the Golden Rule,” “Grace Loves her Neighbor,” “Grace and the Power of Prayer,” and “Putting God First: An Inspirational Guide for Teenagers.”
“Daniel Chooses to Forgive” is the first book in the Daniel series of adventures.
A small-town girl from Alabama, Smart is a believer, wife, sister, and teacher at heart. She is passionate about sharing meaningful life lessons with children through storytelling and relatable characters.
