Bobby Reginald Meadows

 

Graveside service for Mr. Bobby Reginald Meadows, 64, of Goodwater, was Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Millerville Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Russell DeLee officiated.

Bobby Reginald Meadows; a cherished son, cousin, and friend; passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. Born into the embrace of his late father, Benjamin O. “Bob” Meadows, and his devoted mother, Levis Askew Richardson, Bobby’s journey through life was marked by unwavering faith, a love for music, and an exceptional memory that endeared him to all who knew him.

Bobby’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He found great joy and solace in his church family at West End Baptist Church, where he was a beacon of light and love. His passion for music was evident to all, as he had a remarkable talent for teaching himself to play the electric organ and accordion. His musical gifts were a source of comfort and inspiration, both to himself and to those who had the pleasure of hearing him play.

A man of simple pleasures, Bobby enjoyed watching television, with “The Price is Right” being among his favorite shows. His friendly nature made him a beloved figure in his community, and he relished the company of visitors. Conversations with Bobby were always memorable, thanks to his excellent memory which allowed him to recall and share the most intricate details of his life experiences.

Bobby’s loving spirit will be dearly missed by his mother, Levis Askew Richardson of Goodwater, and his extended family of cousins who were a significant part of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin O. “Bob” Meadows; his brother, Benny Darryl Meadows; and his stepfather, Clarance Richardson. Each of them held a special place in his heart and helped shape the man he became.

Those who knew Bobby will remember him as a loving, friendly, and faith-filled individual. His presence was a gift, and his absence will be profoundly felt. As we bid farewell to Bobby Reginald Meadows, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of kindness, music, and unwavering faith will live on, reminding us of the beauty and grace that one life can bring to so many. Bobby’s journey on earth has concluded, but the melodies he created and the love he shared will echo eternally.

David “Baby Dave” Ryals

 

Funeral service for Mr. David “Baby Dave” Ryals, 68, of Goodwater, was Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Jimmial Harrison officiated. Burial followed at Hillview Memorial Park.

Mr. Ryals passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on November 15, 1957, David spent his life cultivating a legacy of kindness and warmth that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

David’s early years were marked by a love for the great outdoors, a passion that naturally led him to a fulfilling career as a logger. His colleagues remember him as a man who worked hard and enjoyed the freedom of being outdoors.

Beyond his professional life, David was a man who loved people; the trait that truly defined him. He never met a stranger. His giving nature was evident in the way he lived his life, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word.

David’s mild-mannered demeanor belied a strong and resilient character, one that allowed him to face life’s challenges with grace and courage. His friends and family will remember his laughter, his comforting presence, and the unwavering support he provided to those around him.

As we say goodbye to David Ryals, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by compassion, friendship, and love. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the beauty of a simple act of kindness and the enduring power of a gentle spirit. David’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.

He is survived by his brother, Bobby (Susan) Ryals of Sylacauga; sister, Patricia (Michael) Cowart of Southside; close friend, Kathy Harrison of Goodwater; his baby girl, Pinkie; nieces, Amy (Rick) Jones and Abby Jones; and nephews, Sgt. Jordan Cowart, Alan Ryals, Robert Ryals, Mitch Jones, and Rickey Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Vergie Ryals; and sister, Bonnie Ryals.

James Edgar Sanford

Funeral service for Mr. James Edgar Sanford, 96, of Alexander City, was Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Ray Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Hillview Memorial Park.
Mr. Sanford passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Russell Medical Center. James was born on October 13, 1929, in Tallapoosa County to Clayton Edward Sanford and Rena Skipper Sanford. He was a faithful member of Ray Baptist Church. James worked for over 40 years at Russell, retiring as the supervisor for the Number 3 mill. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. James enjoyed working on his farm and in his garden. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. One of the things James loved most was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Sanford of Jacksons Gap, Benny (Luanne) Sanford of Wedowee, Dennis Sanford, Tony Sanford, both of Alexander City; daughters, Janet (Ken) Whitehead, Debra (Richard) Dunlap, both of Alexander City, Vicki (Lynn) Spraggins of Opelika; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and brother, David (Deborah) Sanford of Alexander City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Goldie Elizabeth Sanford; grandson, Grayson Sanford; great-grandson, Jackson James Lilly; sisters, Mary Gorom and Doris Odom; brothers, O.K. “Doc” Sanford and Lynn Sanford.
