Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
Union Square Neighborhood Watch is still being blessed. We enjoyed a wonderful late Thanksgiving/early Christmas meal all in one at the Neighborhood Watch meeting.
We ate well and made Christmas bags for five homebounds. These bags were extra special this year. Everyone helped with the contributions, but I have to give Sherry and Robin the most props for putting it all together.
We love our neighbors and community, and we want the best for them. Patsy Johnston and Mother LaVerne Hannon are always very grateful, telling me how they appreciate the bags and love everything that is in them.
We thank President Johnny Schmidt for preparing the food. He did a great job. The grilled burgers were the best tasting tender burgers I have eaten in a long time.
Susan Rogers and her sister, Janice, always make the best sweets, and Ran Wilson, who was absent. Mr. Sam Barclay looks forward to hers and was disappointed. However, he and his wife were happy and enjoyed the others.
The Barclays are very humble people, and we love to have them as distant neighbors, always willing to support.
We were happy to see Sandy Goggans. We have been missing her. We are still missing Pat Windsor, Aaron Riggins and of course Kenny Shaw and Steve Baker, whose granddaughter Kaylee Veitch was killed in a car accident a couple of weeks ago. We are so sorry and still praying for Steve’s wife, Jean, and the family.
Everyone was happy that Deputy Kelley could sit and eat with us after he did his part of the Sheriff’s Office business, giving the report, etc. Usually the deputies will have to leave for other assignments, but we kept him as a special Christmas gift.
Sheriff Howell sent his best regards to Union Square. He loves us, and we love him. If he cannot make it to the meetings he sends his guys.
It was a very nice Union Square meeting and celebration of being thankful and honoring Jesus’s birth.
I still love you, Christa Jennings – 27-20, Roll Tide! (LOL)
I am so thankful for the county repairing the entrance road to the landfill. It had gotten terrible. Thank God others had eyes.
Happy birthday to all December babies.
Praying for peace in this holiday season and for the new year to begin and end in a great, wonderful way. Praying for the unhappy, sick and angry people.
