Central High School congratulates Hannah Morales, a seventh grader and daughter of Maria M. Santos, for being named one of October’s Students of the Month. Hannah attends Saint John Apostle Catholic Church and stands out for her responsibility, kindness and excellent work habits. Her favorite subject is life science, where she consistently completes her assignments quickly, quietly and with care. Her teacher describes her as a “tremendous student” who not only completes her work efficiently, but also takes initiative to help around the classroom – often offering to sweep the floor without being asked.
Hannah’s determination and humility reflect her bright future goals. She plans to attend Central Alabama Community College and later transfer to a university to become a pediatrician, inspired by her desire to help children. Her maturity, respectfulness and eagerness to learn make her a standout member of the Central student body.

Central High School is proud to honor Nivea Gaddis, an eighth grade student from Goodwater, as one of its October Students of the Month. The daughter of Vondrea Gaddis and Alan Mitchell, Nivea stands out for her love of learning and strong work ethic. Her favorite subject is math, which she describes as “easy and fun,” and her teachers recognize her focus and determination. One teacher notes that Nivea always stays on task and shows excellent manners and respect in class.
In addition to her academic dedication, Nivea contributes to school spirit by helping provide water for the Varsity and Junior High Football teams on game nights. Her reliability and willingness to serve others make her a valued member of the Central community. Nivea plans to continue helping people in the future by becoming a traveling nurse, a goal that reflects her caring nature and strong sense of responsibility.

Zakendrick McKinney, a ninth grader from Goodwater, has been selected as one of Central High School’s October Students of the Month. The son of Ebony McKinney and a member of Rising Star Baptist Church, Zakendrick has earned this recognition through his respectful attitude, positive character and helpful spirit. His favorite subject is math, which he enjoys because he simply likes numbers. Teachers describe him as a true gentleman who is always willing to help – whether by holding doors for others or assisting teachers with carrying boxes and supplies.
Outside of school, Zakendrick is an active member of the Central High School football team and also works hard washing cars and cutting grass in his community. He looks forward to a future career as either a police officer or a mechanic. Zakendrick also shared his appreciation for his teachers, saying Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Clark are his favorites. His respectfulness and determination exemplify what it means to be a Central High School student.

Central High School proudly recognizes Erick Martinez, a tenth grade student from Kellyton, as one of October’s Students of the Month. Erick is the son of Josephina Martinez. Erick has earned this honor through his dedication to academics and his respectful, hard working attitude. His favorite subject is math, a subject he enjoys because he loves solving problems. Erick’s teachers describe him as a student who always strives to stay on top of his work, helps others and maintains a positive attitude.
Outside the classroom, Erick demonstrates leadership as the lead builder for the FTC Robotics Team, where he has played a key role in building and improving the team’s robot for competitions. He also enjoys playing soccer outside of school and hopes to one day turn that passion into a career by playing in a professional soccer league. His commitment to excellence and teamwork make him an outstanding representative of Central High School.

Congratulations to Tatum Larrabee, an eleventh grader from Stewartville, for being named one of Central High School’s October Students of the Month. Tatum, the daughter of Barbara Hamilton, attends Weogufka Family Worship Center and shines both academically and as a leader. Her favorite subject is English, a class she enjoys because it allows her to express herself creatively and connect with others through words. Her teachers describe her as a dedicated student and a strong leader who excels as the drum major of the Central High School marching band.
When she’s not leading the band on the field, Tatum plays alto saxophone during concert season, showing her versatility and love of music. After graduation, she plans to attend Faulkner University to pursue a degree in nursing while also continuing her musical journey as part of the university’s band. Tatum’s enthusiasm, leadership and drive make her a role model for her peers and a source of pride for the Central community.

Central High School proudly recognizes twelfth grader Ophelia “Opie” Gould of Rockford as one of October’s Students of the Month. The daughter of Lynn and Tim Taylor and a member of Rockford Church of God, Ophelia is known for her positivity, creativity and strong participation in class. Ophelia’s artistic talents shine through her beautiful drawings and sculptures, and she enjoys spending time walking in the woods and creating art.
This year, Opie has made great strides in communication and leadership, becoming more involved in school organizations such as FCCLA. She has taken initiative in planning meetings, voicing her opinions with confidence and encouraging her peers to get involved, as well. In the future, she hopes to pursue her artistic passion by becoming a tattoo artist. Ophelia’s creativity, kindness and growing confidence make her an inspiration to others at Central High School.
