A Goodwater woman was arrested recently on a marijuana charge following a traffic stop.
On September 20, while on routine patrol, Deputy Brown observed a vehicle without a tag, initiated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
Brown approached the vehicle and identified the driver. He detected the odor of what he believed to be marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
After talking with the driver, he asked her to exit the vehicle because of the suspicious odor. He asked if there was anything in the vehicle, and she said there wasn’t.
Brown informed the driver that he was going to conduct a search of the vehicle because of the odor. That search resulted in him finding a 9mm firearm and a bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.
As such, 34-year-old Tiffany Marie Helm of Goodwater was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.
Her bond was set at $2,500, and she was released on bond September 21 to await trial.
