There has been no arrest made yet following a shooting that occurred in Goodwater last month.
On September 18, the Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a shooting on Line Street in Goodwater. While en route to the scene, deputies were informed that an individual was trying to break into someone’s house and was shot.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies began an investigation and found the shot individual across the street at another residence. He had received one shot to his arm and lower side.
Goodwater EMS responded and transported him to UAB Hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, deputies interviewed several witnesses, including the suspect who did the shooting.
Further into the investigation they determined that the suspect, 33-year-old Justin Alonza Shealey of Goodwater, shot Early Lanard Parker, 35 years old of Goodwater.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that after gathering all evidence and interviewing individuals, the apparent shooter was not charged at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
On Tuesday, Parker was released from the hospital and returned home.
