Richville Rundown

Be careful if you are out walking or working in the yard; those snakes are still crawling. This seems to be the worse time for them as they are getting ready to hibernate in a few months.
This is a transitional month with school starting back, but it still feels like summer. It’s really still too hot for back-to-school clothes, but everyone wants to wear their new stuff.
I miss school not starting until after Labor Day. We would go on the Friday before (usually just a half day) getting books and walking through the classes so on Tuesday morning we would be ready!
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department is taking orders for the Labor Day Boston Butt sale. They are $35! Since Labor Day falls on September 1 this year, pickup will be on Saturday, August 30, between 7 and 9 a.m. Be sure and get on their list as they usually sell out. Contact Wayne Ward at 334-467-7660.
Providence Baptist Church will host our 2nd Annual Fishing Tournament on Saturday, September 6, at Barretts on Lake Mitchell. Registration is $110 which includes big fish. Guaranteed first place $1,000. To pre-register contact Wayne Ward at 334-467-7660. You can also register the day of the tournament with cash only. Launch will be safe daylight with weigh-in at 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
Union Baptist Church will have their homecoming this Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. with music provided by the David Vick Band. Then at 11, Bro. Joe Camp will be preaching. Lunch will follow the service. All are invited.
My Bible verse this week is still about anxiety. We all face stress each day; some days more than others. Our world is filled with so many deadlines and things that need to be done that it’s easy to get overwhelmed.
Matthew 6:34 reads, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
This verse is so true. Most of our anxiety is not just what’s occurring in our lives right now, but worrying about things in the future. We need to focus on the present and trust God to take care of the future. Often times what we worry about never happens, putting us in a state of turmoil that was unnecessary.
We need to trust God to take care of the future. That doesn’t mean we are not to plan for the future. But we make plans to the best of our ability that God has given us, then trust God to fulfill our needs. Just as I said last week, remember to take a deep breath, put a smile on your face and face the world!
I know from experience that it’s easier said than done. However, I’m trying! Much of which means letting go of some things that I really don’t have control of anyway.
Be in prayer for the ones that have lost a loved one and that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has news or an event toshare, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com,butphone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message
