In My Humble Opinion
Jodi McDade
The flood gates have been thrown open! It’s looking like we are very close to the tipping points between good and evil.
Every day we are hearing about murders, attacks and tragedies happening around our country. Parents are killing children, children are killing parents, strangers are killing strangers, and just random attacks are happening more and more. Many of these can be attributed to the illegal aliens here in our country, but too many are also being committed by Americans against Americans.
What we are beginning to see are the results of many changes that have been made in our country in the last 50 years or so. We no longer have facilities to house or assist people with mental illnesses. We no longer incarcerate dangerous people.
Drug use is being sponsored by cities with large homelessness by providing them with free clean paraphernalia. God was removed from our schools. The true history of our country has been overshadowed by more current “history” in our schools. The government now pays people not to work so we no longer have the innate work ethic our ancestors had. The meaning of “free” is now “dependent on the government.”
Our population is now more of a “tossed salad” than the “melting pot” it was intended to be. During the mass immigrations of the past, people came to America to find the American Dream by assimilating into our culture. Now, they come here for the free stuff and benefits that should be limited to American citizens only.
American citizens of all races and ethnicity are now treated as second class citizens – illegal aliens are first in line for free healthcare and education. We now have to have interpreters in our schools to accommodate non-English speaking students. We have to press “1” for English instead of requiring people to learn English.
And now we have people running for office who are openly and proudly Communists, Socialists and Democratic Socialists. The two main political parties – Democratic and Republican – have always had different views on certain things, but they have mainly been patriotic Americans.
Back in my younger years the main difference between the two parties was Democrats were anti-war while Republicans were called war hawks – this was in the Vietnam Era. The Democratic Party has now been taken over by anti-Americans while the Republicans want to prioritize Americans First.
One of our largest cities – New York City – is now looking at electing an openly Communist mayor who wants to have the government take control of most of the private sector. I learned in high school many years ago that government control meant that we would have access to only what the government wanted us to have. Grocery stores would stock the cheapest products possible, but would have empty shelves the majority of the time. Government-controlled housing would be tenements that only had repairs made if the government wanted to. Government-controlled healthcare would be only what the government thinks is necessary and only by doctors of their choice.
Does any of this sound vaguely familiar to you? This information is out there, but it depends on where you get your news – or IF you follow the news.
Unfortunately, I know people who do not read or listen to news at all unless it is sports or entertainment related. They can tell me what team won or traded a player. They can tell me all about the love life of major celebrities. But they have no idea who their state or federal representatives or senators are. They don’t know who their county commissioner or mayor is. And THEY DON’T CARE! And the most dangerous thing about this is that these people vote! They depend on other people to tell them how to vote or someone gives them a “cheat sheet” to take into the polls. They are like sheep being led to the slaughter.
One of the main changes I’ve seen in my life is the deterioration of our “news” media. We no longer have truthful and unbiased reporting that we should actually accept on any of the hundreds of news channels available to us. There are a few real new programs, but most of the “reporters” are commentators reading what has been prepared for them and/or including their own observations in what they say.
Also, the way the media jumps on any incident that occurs we can be 99.9% certain there are errors in what they say because the facts are still being gathered. We don’t need 24/7 reporting of crimes or accidents that are still being investigated because the stories will change as more information is uncovered. The authorities will release information as they can, but the news media does not need to push them for more information that might jeopardize the investigation.
We have become accustomed to instant gratification – what we want, we want RIGHT NOW! We have lost our ability to practice patience. I’m just as guilty with my cellphone! The minute it beeps – or if it doesn’t beep for more than two minutes – I check to see if I have missed anything. Has someone posted on Facebook? Has someone sent me a friend request? Has someone sent me an email?
So, I’ll close this with the disclaimer that my columns are always MY OPINIONS based on information I have read, heard, or interpreted. All of you have your own opinions on matters of importance to you based on the information you have read, heard, or interpreted. That is where the ability to have conversations and debates come in.
We should be able to discuss our differences with each other because someone else’s opinion just might change our outlook on something. It’s sad that we made assumptions about other people based only on what someone has told us about them. We are relying on someone else’s opinion that is only that – an opinion, not necessarily a fact. Think about it!
